Best Sellers of 2022
It’s been awhile since we’ve done this, so let’s look back at our best selling graphic novels and issues for the year!
We finally published a new volume of our own local comics anthology, Big Planet Comics: Neon! This included a new short Zodiac Starforce story by our hometown heroes Kevin Panetta and Paulina Ganucheau, so of course that was one of our bestsellers!
Media had an impact, with Moon Knight, Spy X Family, Demon Slayer, Batman: The Long Halloween, Heartstopper, and Chainsaw Man all selling well after their screen adaptations became popular.
Controversy elevated a few, as censorship attempts reminded people to pick up Maus and Gender Queer. The return of favorite creators are always popular, with Alex Ross on Fantastic Four: Full Circle, and Kevin Eastman in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin, and the return of Saga from a multiyear break.
New bargain-priced digest editions of classics also put The Amazing Spider-Man, Miles Morales, and Spider-Gwen on the charts.
Noir, horror, and scifi were strong, with the ongoing Reckless books, That Texas Blood stories, new conspiracy thriller Department of Truth, and scifi twist of Nice House on the Lake, and action horror of Something is Killing the Children.
We finally had a few new faces, the online megahit Lore Olympus finally appearing in print, plus The Many Deaths of Laila Starr, and Wash Day Diaries.

And here are the top 20 bestselling issues in 2022 from our stores!
Saga returned to top of the charts as soon as it started coming out again. All the usual superhero favorites did well, such as Batman, the Justice League, Spider-Man, and the X-Men.
The events of the year were also big, with DC Comics’ Dark Crisis on Infinite Earths and Flashpoint Beyond, and Marvel’s Avengers/X-Men/Eternals: Judgment Day.
Bringing in Fortnite to comics was of course a huge hit.
Tom King had another retro hit with his new story of The Human Target, and his Batman/Catwoman finished his Batman stories. Nightwing took off under the new team of Tom Taylor writing and Bruno Redondo’s amazing art.
